The Edge of New Netherland
With The Edge of New Netherland Mr. Tantillo turns his considerable artistic talents to the Dutch settlements along the Delaware River in the seventeenth century.

The Delaware, or South River, communities were located in the southernmost region of the Dutch colony of New Netherland. They have largely been neglected by historians. Instead the focus has been on the Hudson River settlements. To make up for this neglect, the New Netherland Institute called for its 2011 Seminar to be held in New Castle, Delaware, with a focus on the Dutch in the Delaware region. The Edge of New Netherland was Len Tantillo's contribution to this discussion.

In this work, Mr. Tantillo takes the reader back to the early European settlements of the Delaware River Valley through the perspective of the Dutch and Swedes who first colonized the region. In doing so, Tantillo provides the reader with an evocative perspective of the early European settlement on the banks of the Delaware River as seen through an artist's eye.

moment past
A Moment Past is much more than an 85 page exhibition catalog. Each of the beautiful paintings presented dramatically tell a piece of the illustrious story of New York State’s evolution from the land of the Algonquian and Iroquoian people, through the changes to that environment made by the Dutch and English during the colonial era, and the impact of a revolutionary war and the industrial age that followed. Readers are visually transported in stunning color and meticulous detail back in time to experience the ever changing lifestyle that defines a culture uniquely American.
For those who attended the exhibition at the Fennimore Art Museum in Cooperstown, New York, A Moment Past will help to recall the experience of seeing these amazing works in person. For those who were not able to attend, this book will provide insight into the talent and imagination of an artist dedicated to telling the untold stories of New York State.
